Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Discusses Crypto-Mining and Its Impact on the Power System
The Minister noted that while electricity consumption grew by an average of 2% annually before 2021, it rose 6.1% last year, driven mainly by digital mining activity. Measures are being taken daily by the System Operator, with legal amendments made and inspections of illegal mining operations underway per the President's instruction.
