A seminar was held at «KOREM» JSC as part of the EBRD's wind energy and energy storage systems support project
On November 6-7, 2024, on the basis of JSC «Kazakhstan electricity and power market operator», an in-person consulting seminar was held within the framework of a technical task project implemented by the Energy Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The project is aimed at supporting the Auction Program for the construction of wind power plants (WPP) and energy storage systems in Kazakhstan.
The aim of the Project is to prepare and implement a pilot auction for the construction of a wind farm with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Kazakhstan, as well as to select and prepare three suitable sites for the implementation of wind energy projects based on technical, environmental and social assessment.
The event was held with the assistance of a consortium led by Synergy Consulting, which is a Consultant to the Project and brought together key participants – representatives of JSC «KEGOC», LLP «Settlement and Financial Center for Support of Renewable Energy Sources» and JSC «KOREM». The participants discussed important issues related to the implementation of BESS in wind energy projects.
As a result of the seminar, strategic and technical aspects of the application of energy storage systems were discussed, as well as feedback from industry representatives was received.
