The results of the auction for the construction of a WPP (with an electricity storage system) with a total installed capacity of 1,000 MW have been announced.
On April 15, 2025, the auctions were held to select renewable energy projects for the construction of a WPP for the Northern Zone of the Unified Power System (UPS) of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a total installed capacity of 1,000 MW.
4 companies were allowed to participate in the auction bidding, during the trading session participants submitted 20 price bids. The total volume of submitted bids amounted to 4000 MW. The marginal auction price at auction bidding for selection of WPP projects in 2025 was 22.68 tg/kWh (excluding VAT).
During the trading session, the price range of bids received from the auction participants was from 22.68 to 18.72 tg/kWh (excluding VAT).
As a result of the auction bidding, Turan Wind Energy LLP was identified as the winner, the installed capacity of the project is 1000 MW, the auction price is 18.72 tg/kWh (excluding VAT).
Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan «Atameken», the Kazakhstan Electric Power Association, the Kazakhstan Association of Oil-Gas and Energy Sector Organizations «KazEnergy» and the Renewable Energy Association «Qazaq Green» took part as observers. The observers confirmed the transparency of the electronic trading system of the auction organizer – KOREM JSC.
The next auctions for the selection of projects for the construction of WPPs are scheduled for 26 May 2025, South Zone, with a total installed capacity of 50 MW.
