On June 23, 2025, an auction for RES was held for the entire area of the Unified Power System of the Republic of Kazakhstan to select projects for the construction of small hydropower plants with a total installed capacity of 50 MW.

12 were admitted to participate in the auction. During the trading session, participants submitted a total of 21 price bids. The total capacity submitted by the participants amounted to 40.07 MW.

The starting auction price for the selection of hydropower projects in 2025 was 41.23 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT).

During the auction session, the range of prices submitted by participants varied from 41.23 to 39.67 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT).

The following companies were selected as winners based on the auction results:

• LLP "Ulken Qaqpaq HPP-2" – installed capacity of the project: 2.5 MW, auction price: 40 KZT/kWh (excl. VAT);
• LLP "DOSTYQ-HYDRO" – installed capacity of the project: 0.450 MW, auction price: 39.67 KZT/kWh (excl. VAT);
• LLP "TAUENERGO" – installed capacity of the project: 3.2 MW, auction price: 39.72 KZT/kWh (excl. VAT);
• LLP "Jasyl qýat" – installed capacity of the project: 2 MW, auction price: 41.05 KZT/kWh (excl. VAT);
• LLP "QazQuat-AQSU" – installed capacity of the project: 4.99 MW, auction price: 40.7 KZT/kWh (excl. VAT);
• LLP "Electrical Energy" – installed capacity of the project: 3.93 MW, auction price: 41.18 KZT/kWh (excl. VAT);
• LLP "NEK Zharyk Energo" – installed capacity of the project: 8.6 MW, auction price: 39.69 KZT/kWh (excl. VAT);
• LLP "Smart ReEnergy" – installed capacity of the project: 1 MW, auction price: 40.02 KZT/kWh (excl. VAT);
• LLP "QazQuat-TURGEN" – installed capacity of the project: 2.6 MW, auction price: 40.2 KZT/kWh (excl. VAT);
• LLP "GES CORPORATION" – installed capacity of the project: 1 MW, auction price: 39.82 KZT/kWh (excl. VAT);
• LLP "TK-Most XXI" – installed capacity of the project: 4.9 MW, auction price: 40.05 KZT/kWh (excl. VAT);
• LLP "Qaratal Hydro" – installed capacity of the project: 4.9 MW, auction price: 41.17 KZT/kWh (excl. VAT).

Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakh association of regional environmental initiatives “EcoJer”, Renewable Energy Association “Qazaq Green”. The observers confirmed the transparency of the electronic trading system of the auction organizer – KOREM JSC.

The next auction is scheduled for June 24, 2025, for the selection of projects for the construction of HPP across all zones, with a total installed capacity of 200 MW.
