Auction results announced for the construction of HPP with total installed capacity of 200 MW
On June 24, 2025, an auction for RES was held for the entire area of the Unified Power System of the Republic of Kazakhstan to select projects for the construction of large hydropower plants with a total installed capacity of 200 MW.
2 companies were admitted to participate in the auction. During the trading session, participants submitted a total of 3 price bids. The total declared capacity from the auction participants amounted to 67.7 MW.
The starting auction price for the selection of hydropower projects in 2025 was 41.23 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT).
During the auction session, the range of prices submitted by participants varied from 41.23 to 41.21 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT).
The following companies were selected as winners based on the auction results:
- LLP "KGE Hydro" – installed capacity of the project: 27.4 MW, auction price: 41.23 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT);
- LLP "KazHydroEnergo" – installed capacity of the project: 12.9 MW, auction price: 41.22 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT);
- LLP "KGE Hydro" – installed capacity of the project: 27.4 MW, auction price: 41.21 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT).
Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakh association of regional environmental initiatives “EcoJer”, the Resident Mission of the Asian Development Bank in Kazakhstan. The observers confirmed the transparency of the electronic trading system of the auction organizer – KOREM JSC.
The next auction is scheduled to be held in November 2025 for hydroelectric and bioenergy power plant projects. In this regard, the auction organizer, "KOREM" JSC, invites all interested parties planning to implement renewable energy projects in Kazakhstan to participate in the RES auction.
