Centralized Capacity Auctions Held for the Western Zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan
On November 20, 2025, centralized capacity auctions for the Mangystau, West Kazakhstan, and Atyrau regions of the Western Zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan were conducted on the trading platform of "KOREM" JSC, taking into account the transmission capacity of the transit power lines in the L-2075 MTES-3-Beineu + L-2085 MTES-3-Beineu sections.
To conduct the centralized capacity auctions, the Single Buyer and the System Operator provided the following initial parameters to "KOREM" JSC:
For the Mangystau region of the Western Zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the forecast demand for electric capacity amounted to 385.6 MW;
- the transmission capacity of the power lines toward the Mangystau power hub was 200 MW.
For the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions of the Western Zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the forecast demand for electric capacity amounted to 366.4 MW;
- the transmission capacity of the power lines toward the West Kazakhstan power hub was 180 MW.
The price cap for the capacity availability service was set at 1,170 thousand KZT/MW per month (excluding VAT).
Based on the results of the centralized capacity auctions for the Mangystau region of the Western Zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the total volume of sold capacity amounted to 385.6 MW, including 185.6 MW from the Mangystau region and 200 MW from the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions.
A total of 4 transactions were concluded in the trading system.
The weighted average price at the end of the centralized capacity auctions amounted to 1,165.3 thousand KZT/MW per month (excluding VAT).
Based on the results of the centralized capacity auctions for the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions of the Western Zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the total volume of sold capacity amounted to 366.4 MW, including 146.4 MW from the Mangystau region and 220 MW from the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions.
A total of 4 transactions were concluded in the trading system.
The weighted average price amounted to 1,167.1 thousand KZT/MW per month (excluding VAT).
The forecast demand for electric capacity in the Western Zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan was fully met.
Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and "Settlement and Financial Center for Support of Renewable Energy Sources" LLP participated as observers during the centralized capacity auctions.
