Results of the auction for the selection of HPP projects at the total installed capacity of 20 MW on November 9, 2020.

November 9, 2020, Kazakhstan launched auctions for the selection of RES projects. Auctions this year started with the selection of projects for hydroelectric power plants with a total installed capacity of 20 MW. It was recognized as a successful auction.

8 companies were allowed to participate in the auction, during the trading session, participants submitted 27 price offers, and the unit capacity for projects ranged from 1 to 5 MW. Total volume of applications submitted was 23 MW. Maximum auction price during the auction for the selection of HPP projects in 2020 was 15,48 tg/kWh (without VAT).

During the trading session, the price range of requests received from auction participants was from 14,98 to 15,20 tg/kWh. In accordance with paragraph 56-1 of the auction Rules, two auction participants accepted the offer at the price of 13.48 tg/kWh (without VAT). In this regard, the auction price range was from 13.48 to 15.20 tg/kWh (without VAT).

Based on the results of the auction, the following companies were determined as winners:

  • UBS POWER LLP (Kazakhstan) installed capacity of the project is 1 MW, auction price is 13.48 tg/kWh (without VAT). The project is planned to be located near the Zharmin district of East Kazakhstan region;
  • Jasyl qýat LLP (Kazakhstan) installed capacity of the project is 2 MW, auction price is 13.48 tg/kWh (without VAT). The project is planned to be located near the Upper-Aksu village of Tolebi district of Turkestan region;
  • TAUENERGO LLP (Kazakhstan) installed capacity of the project is 2 MW, auction price is 14.98 Tg / kWh (without VAT). The project is planned to be located near the Koksay village of Tolebi district of Turkestan region;
  • Altyn Esik management company LLP (Kazakhstan) installed capacity of the project is 3 MW, auction price is 14.99 tg/kWh (without VAT). The project is planned to be located near the city of Esik in Almaty region;
  • Koksu-Kuat LLP (Kazakhstan) installed capacity of the project is 4.5 MW, the auction price is 15 tg/kWh (without VAT). The project is planned for placement near Labasinsk village of Koksu district of Almaty region;
  • TAUENERGO LLP (Kazakhstan) installed capacity of the project is 2 MW; the auction price is 15.01 Tg/kWh (without VAT). The project is planned to be located near the Koksay village of Tolebi district of Turkestan region;
  • Production cooperative "SEC"Yntymak" (Kazakhstan) installed capacity of the project is 1.5 MW; the auction price is 15.02 tg/kWh (without VAT). The project is planned to be located near the Kokpak village of Kazygurt district of Turkestan region;
  • DALA SOLAR LLP (Kazakhstan) installed capacity of the project is 2 MW, auction price is 15.03 tg/kWh (without VAT). The project is planned to be located near the village of Yntaly (Maydantal) Maydantal village, Kentau, Turkestan region;
  • MT & K LLP (Kazakhstan) installed capacity of the project is 5 MW, auction price is 15.2 tg/kWh (without VAT). The project is planned to be located near the village of Kargaly in the Sargand district of Almaty region.

During the auction, representatives of the Ministry of the energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, ALE "KazEnergy", ALE "KEA", and the Asian Development Bank participated as observers. Observers noted that the auction was conducted in accordance with the approved regulatory legal acts and confirmed the transparency of the electronic trading system of the auction organizer – JSC "KOREM".

The next auction is scheduled for 10.11.2020 for the type of SPP 15 MW.

According to the auction schedule approved by the order of the Ministry of energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 202 dated 21.05.2020, auctions in the amount of 250 MW of installed capacity are planned for 2020, broken down by type of power plants:

- solar power plants – 55 MW (including 2 projects with documentation, installed capacity of each project is 20 MW);

- wind power plants – 65 MW;

- hydroelectric power plants – 120 MW;

- BioPP – 10 MW.

The organizer of the auction is JSC "KOREM".
