The Chinese corporation CMC is interested in the implementation of energy projects in Kazakhstan

The implementation of joint projects in the energy sector was discussed by Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov and Vice President of China National Machinery Import & Export Corporation (CMC) Zhao Zhengxiang, the official website of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reports.

The Head of Government noted that Kazakhstan plans to complete the unification of its energy system in the coming years and ensure full coverage of the needs of the economy and the population in electric energy. In particular, for this purpose the corresponding Concept of development of the electric power industry of the republic was adopted.

Thus, projects are currently being implemented to modernize existing power plants, which will allow over 1,700 MW to be commissioned by 2027. This year, the restoration of power unit No. 1 at Ekibastuz SDPP-1 will be completed, which will give an additional 500 MW already in the upcoming autumn-winter period.

At the same time, it is planned to build new TPP in the cities of Kokshetau and Semey. Work is underway to modernize the National Electric Grid. Also this year, it is planned to complete a project to strengthen the electric networks of the Western Energy Zone and a project to strengthen the electric networks of the Southern zone is being developed.

In turn, Zhao Zhenxiang indicated the readiness of China National Machinery Import & Export Corporation to work out joint projects on mutually beneficial terms and strengthen the existing cooperation in general.

«We held detailed discussions with our partners and enlisted the support of our financial institutions. This demonstrates our high interest. If such projects are implemented, we will conclude contracts with local contractors and suppliers to contribute to the development of the economy of Kazakhstan», — said the vice president of SMS.
