This opinion was expressed by the chairman of the board of NJSC "Naftogaz of Ukraine" Yuriy Vitrenko during a briefing on the results of the visit to Ukraine of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the press service reports.
“Let me remind you that this is a transition from sources such as coal and natural gas, to their complete replacement with renewable energy sources,” the chairman said. He also noted that gas transit is seen as one of the sources of financing for the green transition.
In order to transform the energy system of Ukraine, “green” hydrogen will be needed. According to the head of the NAC, work on pilot projects for the production of "green" hydrogen "has already begun.
Also, the production of another key material - "green" ammonia - is planned to be established at the existing facilities of the Odessa Port Plant. In particular, this issue was discussed with the management of the plant and the chairman of the Odessa Regional State Administration during the visit of the head of the NAC to the Odessa region.
Vitrenko is convinced that these projects will be profitable, given the support of Germany and special conditions to stimulate the development of green energy. They are deluting the prices of "green" hydrogen and "green" ammonia significantly higher than the corresponding compounds obtained in the traditional way.
The chairman of the board of Naftogaz also said that the company is discussing cooperation projects in this direction not only with German colleagues. In particular, it is planned to raise this issue with American partners during the upcoming visit of the Ukrainian delegation to the United States.
