By 2030, Kazakhstan will face a power shortage

The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev instructed the government and the Samruk-Kazyna holding to study the possibility of safe ecological nuclear energy in Kazakhstan.

By 2030, there will be a shortage of electricity in Kazakhstan. World experience suggests the most optimal way out - a peaceful atom. The question is not an easy one, therefore it is necessary to approach its solution as rationally as possible, without speculation and emotions. Within a year, the government and Samruk-Kazyna should study the possibility of developing safe and environmentally friendly nuclear energy in Kazakhstan, - Tokayev instructed in his Address to the people of the country.

According to the President, this issue must be considered from the point of view of the development of engineering, the formation of a new generation of qualified nuclear engineers in our country.

A promising area is also the production of green hydrogen, hydrogen energy in general. The government is instructed to prepare proposals on this issue, the head of state added.
