VIENNA, 10 July 2025 – On the margins of the OPEC International Seminar, Kazakhstan Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenjenov met with the UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al Mazroui.

The Ministers highly appreciated the dynamics of bilateral co-operation, calling it exemplary. The central topic of the talks was the implementation of the flagship joint project – construction of a 1 GW wind farm in Zhambyl region with the participation of the leading Emirati company Masdar.

Yerlan Akkenzhenov emphasised that the Government of Kazakhstan has and will continue to provide comprehensive support to this strategic project, which enjoys unprecedented preferences. As an example, the fact of ratification of the intergovernmental agreement on the project in the shortest possible time was noted, which is a clear evidence of the commitment of the Kazakhstani side to its obligations.

Suheil Al Mazroui, in turn, expressed his gratitude for the favourable conditions created and confirmed Masdar's intention to implement the project in accordance with the approved schedule.

"Our partnership with the UAE and specifically with Masdar is a story of great success and trust. This project is the largest RES project in our region and lays the foundation for further deepening co-operation in the «green energy» sector. We see the UAE as our key strategic ally in achieving our goals of decarbonising the economy," said Yerlan Akkenzhenov.
