On May 31, 2018, the sixth auction was held for the North and South Zones to select Hydro Power Plant projects with a total capacity of 20 MW
8 applications were received from Kazakhstani companies, with a single project capacity from 2 to 10 MW. The total volume of proposed capacity was 50,7 MW. The starting price for the Auction was 16,71 KZT/kWh. During the 3-hour trading session, the proposed tariff range was from 16.70 KZT/kWh to12.8 KZT/kWh.
The Auction was recognized as having taken place, because there were more than 3 participants and more than 150% of the purchased capacity, according to the Auction Rules for Selection of Renewable Energy Projects.
Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, non-governmental sector and international organizations participated in the Auction as observers. Observers noted the full transparency of the electronic trading system implemented by the organizer of the Auction - JSC KOREM.
Following the results of electronic Auction, the winners were determined as follows:
1. "Zharyk Energo" National Energy Company" LLP for 8.6 MW with a price of 12.8 KZT/kWh;
2. "Bekzat" LLP for 7 MW with a price of 13.13 KZT/kWh;
3. "Tolkyn WPP" LLP for 2 MW with a price of 13.68 KZT/kWh;
4. "Gidroservis" LLP for 3 MW with a price of 15.19 KZT/kWh.
The Next Auction will be held on 04/06/2018.

The First International Auctions for the selection of RE Projects are planned to be held from May 23 to June 7 and from October 3 to 18 in Kazakhstan.
Auctions, being one of the planned steps on development of renewable energy sources, are aimed at selecting the most effective projects and forming market competitive prices for electric power, produced by renewable energy plants.
According to the Auction Rules for Selection of Renewable Energy Projects (approved by the Order of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 466 from December 21, 2018), the Ministry developed the Schedule for RE Auctions.
According to the Auctions Schedule, Auctions for a total 1,000 MW of installed capacity are planned to be held in 2018, divided by the following types of RE power plants:
Solar Power Plants - 290 MW;
Wind Power Plants - 620 MW;
Hydroelectric Power Plants - 75 MW;
Bio Power Plants - 15 MW.
The organizer of Auctions is JSC KOREM.
