According to final spring auction "price solar energy" fell to 25.8 KZT/kWh

On June 7, 2018, the final auction of spring cycle was held for the South Zone to select solar projects with a total capacity of 50 MW

13 applications were received from 12 local and foreign companies, including representatives of Russia, Turkey, China, France with a single project capacity from 12.5 to 50 MW. The total volume of proposed capacity was 542,5 MW.  During the 3-hour trading session, the proposed tariff range was from 25.80 KZT/kWh to 34.6 KZT/kWh. The value of the ceiling auction price is 34.61 Tg/kWh.

The Auction was recognized as having taken place, because there were at least 3 participants and more than 150% of the purchased capacity, according to the Auction Rules for Selection of Renewable Energy Projects. 

Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, non-governmental sector and international organizations participated in the Auction as observers.  Observers noted the full transparency of the electronic trading system implemented by the organizer of the Auction - JSC KOREM.

Following the results of Auction, the winner was determined as follows:

1. MISTRAL ENERGY LLP for 50 MW, with the price of 25.80 KZT/kWh

The Next Auction will be held on Autumn 2018

The First International Auctions for the selection of RE Projects are planned to be held from May 23 to June 7 and from October 3 to 18 in Kazakhstan.   

Auctions, being one of the planned steps on development of renewable energy sources, are aimed at selecting the most effective projects and forming market competitive prices for electric power, produced by renewable energy plants.

According to the Auction Rules for Selection of Renewable Energy Projects (approved by the Order of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 466 from December 21, 2018), the Ministry developed the Schedule for RE Auctions.

According to the Auctions Schedule, Auctions for a total 1,000 MW of installed capacity are planned to be held in 2018, divided by the following types of RE power plants:

Solar Power Plants - 290 MW;

Wind Power Plants - 620 MW;

Hydroelectric Power Plants - 75 MW;

Bio Power Plants - 15 MW.

The organizer of Auctions is JSC KOREM.
