February 19-20, 2024 in Thailand at the International Conference on the Program «Policy experiments and regulatory sandboxes in the field of digital technologies for sustainable development» JSC «KOREM» The project of the information system «Digital Energy Platform» was presented (DEP).

The conference was held at the UN Conference Center in Bangkok. The event was organized by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) together with the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.

The purpose of the Conference - exchange of experience in the field of digital technologies in the energy sector, discussion of the results of work and experience gained from the implementation of the program «Political experiments and regulatory sandboxes in the field of digital technologies for sustainable development».

The two-day event was attended by representatives from Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Bangladesh, Maldives and other countries. Invited international experts Richard Stace, Bijon Islam, Gordon Clark, Choi Peng Wu, Atman Ali, Lei Zheng and others shared their practical recommendations.

The delegation from Kazakhstan included employees of JSC «Kazakhstan Electric Energy and Capacity Market Operator» and JSC «National Information Technologies».

During the panel session, employees of JSC «KOREM» presented the project of the information system «Digital Energy Platform». Sairan Suleimenov, an expert in the sector of project development and digital transformation, shared the history of the development and launch of the DEP into pilot operation, demonstrated the functionality of the modules of the digital energy platform. Director of the Department of Analytics and Project Management Abai Shangitbayev answered all the questions of the Conference participants on the discussion platform.

It is worth noting that the DEP aroused great interest among the participants of the event. Representatives of Mongolia and other countries expressed great interest in the possibility of developing and implementing DEP in their countries.

The organizers of the Conference expressed their gratitude for taking part in the event and noted that the presentations and experience could serve as an example for other developing countries of the Global South.

Recall that in 2022, JSC «KOREM» participated in the UN DESA program with the «Digital Energy Platform» project. In 2022-2023, with the support of UN DESA, National Workshops for Kazakhstan were organized, as well as a study trip of Kazakhstani experts to the Netherlands to exchange experiences in order to create a DEP.
