On September 24, 2024, auctions were held to select renewable energy projects for the construction of a solar power plant with a total installed capacity of 20 MW for the Southern Zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

8 companies were permitted to participate in the auction and 58 price offers were submitted by the participants during the trading session. The total value of submitted applications was 160 МW. The maximum auction price during the auction for the selection of SPP projects in 2024 was 34.61 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT).

The price range of bids from auction participants during the trading session was 34.61 to 14.95 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT). During the auction session to select projects for the building of SPP, there was a 56.81% drop in price from the beginning auction price.

According to the results of the auction, «Ajour» LLP was identified as the winner, the installed capacity of the project is 20 MW, and the auction price is 14.95 tg/kWh (excluding VAT). The project is planned to be located in the Zhetysu region.

Representatives from the Energy Ministry of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan Association of Regional Environmental Initiatives EcoJer, Atameken NСE, USAID, and AIFC participated as observers. The observers noted that the auction was hold in accordance with the approved normative legal acts and confirmed the transparency of an electronic trading system work of the auction organizer - JSC KOREM.

The next auction, scheduled for September 25, 2024, will select projects for the construction of SPP with a total installed capacity of 20 MW for the Kazakhstan’s Southern zone of the UES.
