The fifth auction was held to select wind projects with a total capacity of 50 MW

On May 30, 2018, the fifth auction was held for the West Zone to select wind projects with a total capacity of 50 MW

According to item 51 of paragraph 5 of the Rules for organization and holding auctions on selection of renewable energy projects, the auction did not take place, as the number of participants who submited aplications to the trading system for sale was less than three.  

Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, non-governmental sector and international organizations participated in the Auction as observers.  Observers noted the full transparency of the electronic trading system implemented by the organizer of the Auction - JSC KOREM.

No winners defined according to the auctions results.

The Next Auction will be held on 31/05/2018.

The First International Auctions for the selection of RE Projects are planned to be held from May 23 to June 7 and from October 3 to 18 in Kazakhstan.   

Auctions, being one of the planned steps on development of renewable energy sources, are aimed at selecting the most effective projects and forming market competitive prices for electric power, produced by renewable energy plants.

According to the Auction Rules for Selection of Renewable Energy Projects (approved by the Order of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 466 from December 21, 2018), the Ministry developed the Schedule for RE Auctions.

According to the Auctions Schedule, Auctions for a total 1,000 MW of installed capacity are planned to be held in 2018, divided by the following types of RE power plants:

Solar Power Plants - 290 MW;

Wind Power Plants - 620 MW;

Hydroelectric Power Plants - 75 MW;

Bio Power Plants - 15 MW.

The organizer of Auctions is JSC KOREM.
