On October 6, 2020, JSC KOREM hosted a meeting with representatives of the USAID Program to discuss the new project "Energy of Central Asia" (hereinafter - the Project).
he main goal of this project is to assist the five Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan) in achieving their national energy priorities to ensure energy security, as well as to support the economic benefits of regional electricity trade.
The project will be implemented within 5 years, starting from October 1, 2020.
The USAID "Central Asia Energy" Project will support national governments, utilities, and other stakeholders in developing domestic energy market reforms, help strengthen the regional electricity market, and promote the widespread adoption of clean energy technologies from traditional and renewable sources. The program will help Central Asian countries counterbalance their needs for hydroelectric power generation with other water management priorities, and ensure the secure management of confidential data generated during the program.
During the meeting, the management of JSC KOREM announced its vision for the development of the electricity market in Central Asia, discussed the results of the work carried out on the development of centralized trading and plans for the digital transformation of JSC KOREM’s activities.
As a result of this meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to cooperate closely on the Implementation of this Project.
