RES auctions for the construction of large hydroelectric power plants did not take place
On September 1, 2023, the second day of RES auctions for the Northern and Southern zones of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the selection of projects for the construction of large hydroelectric power plants with a total installed capacity of 200 MW was held on the trading platform of KOREM JSC.
According to the results of the trading session, 9 companies were allowed to participate in the auction. The declared total volume of capacity from the auction participants amounted to 322.81 MW, while the total amount of financial support in an equivalent ratio did not exceed 130% of the declared volume and amounted to 243.51 MW. In this regard, guided by subparagraph 1) paragraph 51 of the Rules for the organization and conduct of auction auctions (when the total volume of installed capacity of applications for participation in auction auctions for sale is less than 130%), auction auctions are recognized as not held.
According to the results of the auction, the winner has not been determined.
In order to comply with the requirements of the Rules for Organizing and conducting auctions, representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, NCE Atameken, the Kazakhstan Electric Power Association, KAZENERGY, the Qazaq Green Renewable Energy Association, the Asian Development Bank, USAID participated as observers.
It should be noted that today, during the Address to the People of Kazakhstan, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev outlined the need to continue the implementation of renewable energy projects and focused special attention on the development of hydroelectric power plants in the country.
