Centralized electric power trading: results for West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions
On November 28, 2024, from 16:00 on the trading floor of KOREM JSC, centralized auctions of electric power were held in the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions of the Kazakhstan’s Western zone of the UES, taking into account the capacity towards the West Kazakhstan energy hub.
To conduct centralized trading of electric power, the following initial parameters were provided to «KOREM» JSC by a Single buyer and a System Operator:
- projected demand for electric power in the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions of the Kazakhstan’s Western zone of the UES - 441.9 MW;
- The capacity of power transmission lines towards the West Kazakhstan power hub is 180 MW.
To limit the unjustified increase in prices for electric power in the trading system, the marginal tariff for the service for maintaining the availability of electric power in the amount of 1,170 thousand tenge/MW per month (excluding VAT) was used, approved by Order No. 407 of the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 19, 2024 "On Amendments to the Order of the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 3 July 2015 No. 465 "On approval of marginal tariffs for the service for maintaining the availability of electric power."
3 energy producing organizations took part in centralized auctions of electric power.
According to the results of centralized trading of electric capacity, the total volume of sold capacity amounted to 412 MW. The number of transactions concluded in the trading system was - 3. The weighted average price according to the results of centralized trading of electric capacity was 1 170 thousand tenge/MW per month (excluding VAT).
The total volume of applications from energy-producing organizations submitted to the trading system amounted to 412 MW.
The unsatisfied volume of purchased capacity in the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions of the Western zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan amounted to 29.9 MW.
The unrealized volume of services for maintaining the readiness of electric power amounted to 123.2 MW.
Representatives of the Kazakhstan’s Energy Ministry, JSC "Kazakhstan Electric Power Association", LLP "Settlement and Financial Center for Support of Renewable Energy Sources” took part as observers at the centralized auctions of electric power.
