Kazakhstan and China discussed prospects for cooperation in the energy sector
During the period from August 29 - 30 an official visit of the Kazakh delegation to the PRC headed by the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almasadam Satkaliyev took place, the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.
The head of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan held a series of meetings with representatives of the largest energy companies of the PRC and government agencies.
On Thursday, the minister met with Zhang Jianhua, head of China's State Energy Administration. The sides exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation between the countries in the energy sector. Specifically, attention was paid to promising projects in the field of renewable energy, including solar and wind power. Similar goals for achieving carbon neutrality were noted.
During the conversation, the head of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan emphasized the existing interest in the experience of the Chinese side on modernization of coal-fired TPPs in order to reduce carbon emissions into the atmosphere, as well as to improve their energy efficiency.
The parties also discussed the possibility of expanding cooperation in the gas and oil refining sectors.
Moreover, on August 29, the head of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan met with Mr. Song Hailiang, Chairman of the Board of China Energy Engineering Corporation.
The visit of the Chinese side familiarized the Kazakh delegation with the exhibition pavilion of the company, presented the projects implemented both in China and abroad.
During the bilateral meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of major projects for the construction of facilities using RES, construction and modernization of existing power plants, including the modernization of TPPs.
