Kazakh Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev met with representatives of Siemens Energy during a working trip to Germany and discussed the possibility of the company's participation in the implementation of major energy projects in Kazakhstan, the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.

To cover the medium-term demand for electric energy, Kazakhstan is currently implementing projects to modernize and ensure the introduction of new energy sources of generation.

Currently, the Ministry is cooperating with Siemens Energy. In particular, according to the project carried out within the framework of auctions for the construction of newly commissioned generating units with a maneuverable generation mode for the construction of a combined-cycle gas plant with a capacity of 1,000 MW in the Turkestan region. 

Also, work is underway on projects to strengthen the electric grid of the Western and Southern zones of the UES of Kazakhstan and the construction of electric grid facilities, within which it is envisaged to increase the capacity and reliability of power supply to consumers of the Western and Southern zones of the UES of Kazakhstan by strengthening electric networks.

At the same time, projects for the conversion from coal to gas of Almaty CHPP-2 with a capacity of 600 MW and CHPP-3 with a capacity of 480 MW are at the implementation stage using Siemens Energy technology.

During the meeting, the Head of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan invited the company to participate in the implementation of these projects. Representatives of Siemens Energy demonstrated innovative solutions in the field of modernization and development of energy infrastructure to the Kazakh delegation. The company expressed readiness to participate in the implementation of energy projects in Kazakhstan, noted interest in the supply of equipment. In the near future, details of further cooperation with Siemens Energy will be worked out.

At the same time, during the trip, the Kazakh delegation also met with representatives of the German energy agency DENA. The Agency's specialists presented a pilot carbon management project planned for implementation in Kazakhstan, as well as unique developments in CO2 capture and storage. The parties agreed to explore the prospects of mutual partnership.
