JSC «KOREM» shared the experience of organizing centralized (exchange trading) of electric energy in the Kazakhstan market.

Central Asia has a rich potential of renewable energy sources, significant opportunities for improving energy efficiency.

USAID Project «Energy of Central Asia» provides assistance to five Central Asian countries - Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan - in achieving their national and regional priorities in the field of energy security.

At the beginning of December this year in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, representatives of JSC «KOREM» took part in a meeting on the development of «NATIONAL STRATEGIES FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE REGIONAL ELECTRICITY MARKET».

The main purpose of the meeting is to discuss with representatives of Central Asian countries approaches to the development of specific short- and medium-term actions for the preparation of national strategies on regional electricity trade, in order to eliminate technical, institutional, regulatory or commercial obstacles.

At the meeting, A.V. Doronin, Managing Director for Strategy and Ensuring the Activities of «KOREM» JSC, made a report, he shared his experience in organizing centralized (exchange trading) of electric energy in the Kazakh and interstate electricity markets..

Following the meeting, the participants confirmed the importance of developing a strategy for their countries, taking into account ensuring energy security and independence of the countries, and outlined the appropriate first steps for their preparation with the support of the PCA team.
