In 2022, China will be able to install 130-170 GW of solar power plants for the first time in one year. Thus, by the end of 2023, about 50% of government buildings, 40% of public buildings, 30% of commercial and 20% of rural buildings will be equipped with a rooftop solar power plant.
A new pilot program designed specifically to promote decentralized photovoltaic systems has been approved by the China Energy Agency (NEA), according to the Clean Energy Advisory Company for Asia and Europe (AECEA). The program is being implemented in 676 districts spread over 31 provinces.
If we assume that 200-250 MW will be installed in each district, then in general, 130-170 GW will be added to the country. Shandong, Henan and Jiangsu provinces are in the lead with 70, 66 and 59 counties.
“Thanks to this national program, as well as other regional programs to expand the use of solar energy, China will install 100 GW of photovoltaic power plants for the first time during the year,” predicts Frank Haugwitz, chief executive of the consulting company. "And this will happen in 2022."
