JSC «KOREM» Held Free Auction Trading for 250 MW Capacity
On April 27, 2026, free auction trading was held for the selection of renewable energy source projects for the construction of a wind power plant for the Western zone (Atyrau region) of the Unified Power System of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a total installed capacity of 250 MW.
One of the conditions for the construction of wind power plants implemented under free auction trading is equipping them with electrical energy storage systems with a capacity of at least 30% of the facility's installed capacity and with an energy capacity ensuring the release of the specified power for at least two hours.
Two companies were admitted to participate in the auction trading; during the trading session, participants submitted 16 price bids. The total volume of submitted applications amounted to 500 MW.
Based on the results of the auction trading, the winner was LLP «Batys Caspiy Energo», with a project installed capacity of 250 MW and an auction price of 22.32 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT).
Representatives of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Natural Monopolies Regulation Committee of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, NCE «Kazakhstan Electric Power Association», NCE «Kazakhstan Renewable Energy Association», and NCE «Qazaq Green» RES Association took part as observers. The observers confirmed the transparency and correctness of the electronic trading system, operated by JSC «KOREM».
