On November 15, 2023, auctions were held for the selection of renewable energy wind power station projects for the Northern Zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a total installed capacity of 50 MW.

The starting maximum auction price was 22.68 tg/kWh (excluding VAT).

8 companies were allowed to participate in the auction, 20 price offers were submitted by the participants during the trading session. The total volume of applications submitted was 265 MW.

On the third day of the WPP auction for the Northern Zone, there is a decrease in the price range of applications from 22.68 to 12.33 tg/kWh (excluding VAT). The reduction in the price from the maximum auction price for the selection of projects for the construction of WP was 46%.

According to the results of the auction, the winner was determined by the company - LLP «Mars Wind», the installed capacity of the project is 50 MW, the auction price is 12.33 tg/kWh (without VAT). The project is planned to be placed in Kostanay region.

Observers, submitted by representatives from the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, USAID, EBRD, note the transparency of the electronic trading system of the auction organizer – JSC «KOREM».

The next auction is scheduled for November 16, 2023 for the selection of WPP projects with a total installed capacity of 50 MW.
