On November 17, 2023, auctions were held for the selection of renewable energy wind power projects for the Southern zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a total installed capacity of 50 MW.

6 companies were allowed to participate in the auction, and 31 price offers were submitted by the participants during the trading session. The total volume of applications submitted was 240 MW.

The starting maximum auction price was 22.68 tg/kWh (excluding VAT). There is a decrease in the price range of applications from 22.68 to 11.78 tg/kWh (excluding VAT).  The reduction in the price from the maximum auction price for the selection of projects for the construction of the WPP was 48%.

According to the results of the auction, the winner was determined by the company -  LLP «New Clean Energy», the installed capacity of the project is 50 MW, the auction price is 11.78 tg/kWh (without VAT). The project is planned to be placed in the Turkestan region.

Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, ALE «Kazakhstan Association of Regional Environmental Initiatives «ECOJER» and the EBRD took part as observers.   

It should be noted that according to the Schedule of auction bidding this year for the Southern zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan with placement near the Turkestan region, a total of 2 auctions are planned, with a total capacity of 100 MW.

The next auction is scheduled for November 20, 2023 for the selection of WPP projects for the Southern zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with a total installed capacity of 50 MW.
