In Kazakhstan, auctions for the construction of a solar power plant have started at the twofold price
On September 23, 2024, auctions were held to select renewable energy projects for the construction of a solar power plant with a total installed capacity of 100 MW for the Southern Zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The maximum auction price approved by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan during the auction for the selection of SPP projects in 2024 is 34.61 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT).
34 price offers were submitted by the participants during the trading session, and 7 companies were permitted to participate in the auction. The total value of submitted applications was 700 МW.
The price range of bids from auction participants during the trading session was 34.61 to 15.93 tenge/kWh (VAT excluded). During the auction session to select projects for the building of SPP, there was a 53.97% drop in price from the beginning auction price.
According to the results of the auction, Damona LLP was identified as the winner, the installed capacity of the project is 100 MW, and the auction price is 15.93 tg/kWh (excluding VAT). The project is planned to be located in the Almaty region.
Representatives from the Energy Ministry of Kazakhstan, KAZENERGY, Kazakhstan Electricity Association, Qazaq Green Renewable Energy Association, Kazakhstan Association of Regional Environmental Initiatives EcoJer, Atameken NСE, Asian Development Bank, USAID, and AIFC participated as observers to ensure compliance with auction rules. Observers point out that the auction organizer, KOREM JSC’s electronic trading system is completely transparent.
The next auction, scheduled for September 24, 2024, will select projects for the construction of SPP with a total installed capacity of 20 MW for the Kazakhstan’s Southern zone of the UES.
