On September 26, 2024, the final auction was held to select renewable energy projects for the construction of a solar power plant for the Southern Zone of the Unified Energy System of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a total installed capacity of 20 MW.

The maximum auction price approved by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the selection of projects for the construction of SPP in 2024 amounted to 34.61 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT).

9 companies were admitted to the auction, and 42 price offers were submitted by participants during the trading session. The total volume of submitted applications was 140 MW.  

During the trading session, the price range of bids received from auction participants ranged from 34.61 to 14.22 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT). There is a decrease in the price from the starting auction price by 58.91%.

Based on the results of the auction, LLP "Vigor Holding" was determined as the winner. The installed capacity of the project is 20 MW, the auction price of the project is 14.22 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT). The project is planned to be located in Kyzylorda region.

In order to comply with the requirements of the Rules for organizing and conducting auctions, representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan Electric Power Association, NCE RK Atameken and USAID took part as observers.

It should be noted that, according to the Schedule of auction bidding this year, 4 auctions were held by the type of solar power plant, with a total installed capacity of 160 MW. The results of the auctions for SES types showed a price reduction of more than two times compared to the starting price, with the lowest price being 14.22 tg/kWh (excluding VAT). The projects are planned to be placed in the Southern zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan.  

The next auctions are scheduled for November 2024, by types of hydroelectric power plant, wind power plant, and bioelectric power plant. In this regard, the organizer of the auction, JSC KOREM, invites all interested parties planning the implementation of renewable energy projects in Kazakhstan to participate in the auction for renewable energy sources.
