On November 15, 2024, auctions were held to select projects for wind power plants of RES for the Northern Zone of the Unified Electric Power System of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with a total installed capacity of 100 MW.

7 companies were allowed to participate in the auction, and 23 price offers were submitted by the participants during the trading session. The total volume of applications submitted amounted to 700 MW.

The maximum auction price approved by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the auction for the selection of WPP in 2024 was 22.68 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT). During the competition at the auction among the auction participants, a decrease in the price range of applications was received from 22.68 to 12.33 tg/kWh (excluding VAT).

According to the results of the auction, the winner was determined to be the company - LLP «Alpha wind», installed capacity of the project is 100 MW, the auction price is 12.33 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT). The project is planned to be placed in the Kostanay region.  

In order to comply with the requirements of the Rules for Organizing and Conducting auctions, representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakh association of regional environmental initiatives «ECOJER», the Kazakhstan Electric Power Association and USAID took part as observers.

The observers noted the holding of auctions in accordance with approved regulatory legal acts and confirmed the transparency of the electronic trading system of the auction organizer, «KOREM» JSC.

The next auction is scheduled for November 18, 2023 for the selection of wind power plant projects with a total installed capacity of 100 MW.
